RESOLUTION NO. 4924(CCS)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA HONORING
AND COMMENDING COACH JIM SUTHERLAND
OF SANTA MONICA HIGH SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, JIM SUTHERLAND was the football coach for
Santa Monlca High School from 1936 untll 1952; and,
WHEREAS, durlng his tenure, JIM SUTHERLAND lead
the Santa Monlca Hlgh School football team to three CIF
championshlps, and seven Bay League championships; and,
WHEREAS, during hlS tenure, JIM SUTHERLAND flelded
two undefeated teams and coached all elF quarterbacks flve
times.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Clty COUDCll of the Clty of
Santa Monica does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1.
That coach JIM SUTHERLAND of Santa
Monlca Hlgh School lS hereby commended for the outstandlng
record WhlCh he compiled as football coach for Santa Monlca
High School from 1936 through 1952 and, further, that the
City CounCll of the City of Santa Monica on behalf of ltself,
and on behalf of the Clty of Santa Monica, extends ltS
congratulatons to coach JIM SUTHERLAND for the outstandlng
record which he complIed durlng his tenure as football coach
for Santa Monica Hlgh School 1n the Clty of Santa Monlca.
SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certlfy to the

adoption of thls resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
