RESOLUTION AUTHORIZI~G THE FILI~G OF ,~~ APPLICATION WITH THE
DEPART~ffi~l OF T~~SPORTATIO~, UNITED STATES OF ~~ERICA, FOR A
G~~T UNDER THE URB.~ ~~SS TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS ~ffiNDED
~~ERE~, the Secretary of Transportation 15 authorized to make grants for
mass transportation proJects,
~~EREAS, the contract for f~nanc1al ass1stance w1ll 1mpose certa1n obliga-
tions upon the applicant, including the prov1sion by It of the local share
of project costs;
WHEREAS, it is requ1red by the U.S. Department of Transportat1on 1n accord
with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, that in
connection with the flling of an application for assIstance under the Urban
~~ss Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, the applicant glve an assurance
that it will comply with T1tle VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the
U.S Department of Transportation requ1rements thereunder; and
WHEREAS, it 1S the goal of the Appl1cant that ID1nority bUS1ness enterpr1se
be utilized to the fullest extent possible in connection w1th thiS proJect,
and that def1nite procedures shall be establ1shed and admin1stered to ensure
that m1norIty busInesses shall have the maxImum feaSIble opportunIty to com-
pete for contracts when procur1ng constructIon contracts, supplIes, equip-
ment contracts, or consultant and other serVlces;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Councll of the City of Santa Monica
as follows'
SECTION 1. That the C1ty Manager lS authorized to execute and flle an
appllcatlon on behalf of the Santa ~Ionica ~llinIcipal Bus Lines
wIth the U.S. Department of TransportatIon, to ald In the fin-
ancing of flfteen new air-conditioned dlesel tranSit buses.
SECTIO~ 2. That the CIty ~~nager is authorIzed to execute and file with
such applicat10n an assurance or any other document reqUIred
by the U.S Department of Transportation effectuating the
purposes of Tltle VI of the CIV11 Rlghts ~ct of 1964.
SECTION 3. That James D. Willlams, CIty Manager, 15 author1zed to furnlsh
such addIt10nal information as the U.S. Department of Trans-
portation may require In connection wlth the applicatIon or
the proJect.
SECTIO~ 4. That the City Manager 1S authorized to set forth and execute
aff1rmatlve flinor1ty business pol1cies in connection wIth the
proJect's procurement needs.
