A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A
GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA COASTAL COMMISSION
TO FUND THE CITY'S LOCAL COASTAL PROGRAM
ACCORDING TO THE TOTAL WORK PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica, recognizing the problems
and issues identified ~n the attached application for Coastal Zone
Management Grant, des~res to provide for a plann~ng study contri-
but~ng to ~mproved coastal planning, decis~on making, and manage-
ment capabl1ity related to comrnun~ty development and growth; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monlca has developed an applicat~on
package including as its primary element the Total Work Program,
~ Phase I of the City of Santa Monlca's Local Coastal Program, to
deal with these development problems and lssues; and the Ca1~fornia
State Off~ce of Planning and Research, under authority of the
Government Code of the State of Cal~fornia (Section 34200), may
prov~de plannlng ass~stance for such a program and receive f~nan-
cia1 assistance from the Ca11fornla Coastal Commlssion, as autho-
rized by lnteragency agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. To request the Off~ce of P1ann1ng and Research to
provide planning assistance under authority of the Government Code
of the State of California, with such financlal ass~stance as may

be provided by the California Coastal Comm~ssion, not to exceed the
amount of Forty-f~ve Thousand Dollars ($45,000) through June 30, 197B.
Such planning assistance is more partlcularly described in a proJect

descr~pt~on that is attached hereto and made a part of this reso1u-
t~on as ~f fully set forth here~n.
SECTION 2. That the Clty Manager of the City of Santa Monica
be, and he is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name
of the Clty of Santa Monlca, all necessary appl1catlons, contracts,
and agreements and amendments hereto to implement and carry out the
purposes speclf~ed in this resolution.
