RESOLUTION NO. 4972(CC8)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR
GRANTS FROM THE CALIFORNIA COASTAL COMMISSION
TO FUND PHASE 2, THE LAND USE PLAN, OF THE CITY'S
LOCAL COASTAL PROGRM1 ACCORDING TO THE TOTAL WORK
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Clty of Santa Monlca, recognlz1ng the problems
and issues ldentlfled ~n the attached app11catlon for Coastal Zone
Management Grant, des~res to prov~de for a planning study contri-
but~ng to improved coastal plannlng, decislon maklng, and manage-
ment capab~l~ty related to communlty development and growth; and
WHEREAS, the C~ty of Santa Monlca has developed an applicat~on
package lncludlng as its primary element the Total Work Program,
Phase I of the C~ty of Santa Monlca's Local Coastal Program, to
deal w~th these development problems and issues; and the Californla
State Office of Plannlng and Research, under authorlty of the
Government Code of the State of Cal~fornla (Sectlon 34200), may
provlde plannlng asslstance for such a program and rece~ve finan-
cial ass~stance from the Californla Coastal COIDmlssion, as autho-
rlzed by lnteragency agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. To request the Off~ce of Plann~ng and Research to
provide plann1ng asslstance under author~ty of the Government Code
of the State of Cal~fornia, w~th such f~nancial assistance as may
be provided by the Callfornia Coastal Commlssion, not to exceed the
amount of One Hundred Ten Thousand ($110,000) for a perlod of approxl-

hereto and made a part of thlS resolution as lf fully set forth
hereln.
SECTION 2. That the C~ty Manager of the C~ty of Santa Monlca
be, and he is hereby authorlzed and empowered to execute ln the
name of the c~ty of Santa Monica, all necessary app1icat~ons, con-
tracts, and agreements and amendments hereto to implement and carry
out the purposes specified ln thls resolution.
