A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING CALL FOR
FORMAL BIDS AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGO-
TIATION FOR PURCHASE OF WATER PUMPING
CONTROL EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
previously has approved purchase and installation of certain equip-
men~ required for remote control of water pumps; and
WHEREAS, interface with existing equipment is a primary
requirement to ensure accurate functioning; and
WHEREAS, survey of the open market indicates that only
one supplier can assure installation of equipment with the required
compatibility; and
WHEREAS, to advertise formally for bids would entail ex-
pense and delay with no reasonable expectation of tangible result.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the need for
compatibility between existing and new equipment is of significant
importance
SECTION 2. That only one supplier is known to be capable
of furnishing and installing equipment with assured compatibility.
SECTION 3, That to formally advertise for bids would
entail expense and delay with no reasonable expectation of success.
SECTION 4 That the City Manager is authorized to nego-
tiate directly for purchase of this equipment without calling for
formal bids.

SECTION 4: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
