RESOLUTION ~O. 5059 (CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ~ONICA APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE, CITY CLERK, AND DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES OF THE CITY OF SANTA XONICA TO DESTROY CERTAIK CITY RECORDS UNDER THEIR CHARGE. PURSUAKT TO SECTION 34090 OF THE GOVER.\I~jENT CODE OF CALIFORKIA WHEREAS, it has been determined that certain City records under the charge of the following CIty department(s) dre no longer required for publIC or prIvate purposes: FDIA'iCE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE PERSO:\KEL and WHEREAS, it has been determined that destruction of the above mentioned materials is necessary to conserve storage space, and reduce staff time, expense and confusion in handling and in- forming the public; and WHEREAS, Section 34090 of the Government Code of the State of CalIfornia authorizes the head of a City department to destroy any City records, and documents which are over two years old under his or her charge, without making a copy thereof, after the same are no longer requIred, upon the approval of the CIty -1- )' . . Council by resolution and the written consent of the C1ty Attorney; and WHEREAS, it is therefore des1rable to destroy said records as listed in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof, in storage, without making a copy thereof, which are over two years old; and WHEREAS, said records have been approved for destruc- tion by the City Attorney. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That approval and authorization is hereby given to destroy those records described as Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is authorized to allow examination by and donation to the Department of Special Collec- tions of the University Research Library, Univers1ty of Califor- nia, or other historical society designated by the City Council, any of the records described in Exhib1t "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof, except those deemed to be confidential.
