A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA EXEMPTING TREE PUR-
CHASES FROM COMPETITIVE BID PROCEDURE
liHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has the requirement to purchase
trees for new planting or replacement purposes; and
WHEREAS, competitive bidding does not assure purchase of trees
with the greatest potential for survival or the best value; and
liHEREAS, exemption form competitive bidding will permit selection
and iuauediate set-aside of the healthiest specimens.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council finds that the need exists to
purchase trees for new planting or replacement purposes.
SECTION 2
That existing competitive bid procedure does not
assure trees purchased will be the healthiest specimens or best
values available.
SECTION 3
That tree purchases shall be exempt from competitive
bid procedures.
SECTION 4
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full
force and effect.
