fer to said Santa Monica Pleasure Pier Company, a corpora-
tion, that oertain franchise granted the undersigned by the

city, subject, however, to all the oonditions, covenants and
provisions thereot (said franchise being to oonstruot. and
for a period of t.wenty years to maintain and operate, a wharf
to be used for purposes of commeroe and navigation, so far as
may be necessary, and the portion thereof not so used to be
used for amusement and reoreation purposes on and over o.r~
tain lands within the oity of Santa Monioa, California. and
particularly desoribed in said franohise);
