FRED A. GUNTHER, a married man, and EVA I. GOODMAN, a widow,
do hereby grant an easement to the CITY OF SANTA'MONICA, acmunioi-
pal corporation, for the purpose of oonstructing, operating, and
maintaining a sanitary sewer under and across a portion of the Ranoho
San Vicente y Santa Monica, in the City of Santa Monica, County of
Los Angeles, State of California, as per map recorded in Book 3,
pages 30 and 31 of Patents, in the office of the Reoorder of Los
Angeles County, more particularly desoribed as follows:
A strip ot land ten (10) feet in width, lying five (5)
feet on either side of the following described center
line:
Commenoing at the most westerly corner of Lot 1 of Scott's
Addition to Santa Monica, as per map recorded in Book 7,
pages 58 and 59 of Miscellaneous Records, in the otfice of
the recorder of said County: thence North 440 19' 5111
West, along the northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue, 100
feet wide, a distance ot 161.36 feet toa point; thence
continuing North 440 19' 5111 West, along the northeasterly
line,of Ocean Avenue, a distance of 188.25 teet to a point;
thence North 17- 31' 3211 East a distance of 24.11 feet to
a point in the southeasterly line of Olympic Boulevard,
80 feet wide, as described in the Final Order of Condemna-
tion, Case No. 131082, in the Superior Court of the State
of California in and for the County of Los A~eles, (a
radial line through said point bears ,North 14 32' 4511
west); thence easterly along said southeasterly line of
Olympic Boulevard, along a curve concave to the north and
having a radius of 765 feet, an are distance of 110.25
feet to a point in said line (a radial line through said
point bears North 220 48' 1211 East), said point being the
true point of beginni~ ot the center line of the easement;
thence South 50 53' 55 East in a direct line a distance
of 193.95 feet to the point herein previously described as
bearing North 44- 191 5111 West, distant 161.36 teet from the
most westerly corner of Lot 1, Soott's Addition, said point
being the end of the center line of the easement.
The side lines of the easement being extended northwesterly
and southeasterly so as to terminate in the southeast line
of Olympic Boulevard and the northeast line of Ocean Avenue.
This easement is granted solely for the purpose of con-
structing, operating, and maintaining a sanitary sewer
under and across the above described property, and no
right is conveyed to the grantee to use the surface of

SUBJECT: Easement for Relief Interceptor Outfall Se
As you know, the construction of a relief interceptor
outfall sewer between Colorado Avenue at First Oourt and Ocean
Avenue at Seaside Terrace is included in the Public Works Master
Plan. The purpose of this sewer is to intercept the flow in the
Oolorado Avenue Interceptor sewers and divert it into the new
outfall sewer recently constructed in Ocean Avenue, thereby
permitting the abandonment of the old existing outfall sewer in
First Oourtbetween Colorado Avenue and Pico Boulevard. This
old concrete sewer had been found, as the result of recent
photographic surveys, to be in very poor structural condition,
and this fact, together with the fact that increasing sewage flows
will render it inadequate in capacity by or before 1963, made it
imperative to provide for its replacement in said Public Works
Master Plan.
The alignment of both the existing and proposed sewers,
between Colorado Avenue and Olympic Boulevard, lies within ease-
ments across the property upon which the Amster Gross Corporation
proposes to erect a multi-st~ry building in the fall of 1957. In
view of this fact, it has been necessary to advance the timetable
for the construction of the new sewer to insure its completion
prior to the start of construction of the new building. Funds
for the subject construction, estimated to cost $62,590, have been
requested in the 1957-58 budget request of the Sewer Division, and
plans and specifications for the\project have been completed by
this office. '
Since the new sewer, between Olympic Boulevard and Ocean
Avenue, will pass under the property occupied by the Santa Monica
Trailer Court and owned by Fred A. Gunther and Eva I. Goodman,
this office has prepared an Easement Deed and Right of Entry Permit
to permit the construction of this sewer across the above described
property. These documents have been reviewed and approved by the
City Attorney, have been transmitted to Mr.. Gunther and Mrs. Goodman,
and have been executed and returned by them to this office.

Transmitted herewith is one copy of the letter con-
taining the Right of Entry Permit, which letter contains certain
information pertinent to the proposed construction.
Although construction on this project will not be
started until after July 1, 1957, it is considered advisable by
this office for the City to accept at this time the Easement
Deed referred to above.
It is therefore suggested that the City Council be
requested to accept the Easement Deed from Fred A. Gunther and
Eva I. Goodman.
