A RESOLUTION 0' THE CIft COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA ACCEPTING A GRANT
DEED TO CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS;
SECTION 1. That a oertain grant deed acknowledged
July 'Z7, 1954, whereby MARCELLUS L. JOSLYN deeds to the
City of santa Monica, Lot U in Block 111 of the TOwn of
Santa Monioa, be and the same hereby is accepted.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized to record
said deed.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.

Gentlemen:
I am considering a gift for public purposes to the City of Santa Monica
of 1217 Euclid Avenue, being a key lot 50' x 150', Lot U in Block 111 of the
Town of Santa Monica in the City of Santa Monica, as per map recorded il'1. Book 3,
Pages 80 and 81, and in Book 39, Page 45 et seq. of Miscellaneous Records in the
office of the County Recorder of said County.
The front house, known as "1217 Euc1idll, is rented from month to month
at $40.00 a month, and the rear house, known as u1217~ Euclidl1, is rented at
$25.00 a month, with a distinct understanding that no repairs whatever are to be
made in consideration of the very low rental. The rear house tenant pays the
water bill for both places, aoounting to something like $4.00, more or less, per
month# and the tenant deducts this from the rent.
If you will have the City Council express their approval of accepting
this gift at their meeting on the 27th of July, I will proceed to transfer it
to the City.
Albert Leonard, a real estate dealer, at 601 Wilshire BlVd., Santa
Monica, telephone EX. 5-1627, sold me this lot many years ago and is thoroughly
familiar with the present values in that neighborhood.
Mr. George I. McIlwain, a real estate dealer with Koch Realty Co., 534
Wilshire Blvd., Santa }flOnica, telephone EX.3-820l, recently sold me the adjoining
lot, which it is probable that I may give to the City at some future date. If
that happens, there will be a lot 100' x 150' available for public purposes.
