It is my recommendation that the City have this property appraised and authorize me to secure options f or the purchase of the five lots vlithin a period of one year through the p~ent of ~l,OOO.OO down to each property ovmer, to be applied as partial p~'1D.ent upon the price finally agreed upon .vith the owner for the purchase of his lot. Olivette Hill - wt No. 174, Tract No. 2385. As I told you some weeks ago, we have had offers of $8500.00 for the lot but when the prospective buyers were told that there was a possibility of the City taking it over for a water expansion program, they. immediately lost interest. The loss of such a sale has been detrimental to our interests, as you can readily understand. It is now nearly two years ago since the City inf~rmed us of its plan to take over our lot. During that time we have paid nearly $200.00 taxes on the property and have been out nearly $400.00 in interest on our original investment. It would seem but fair that these sums should be considered as well as the above mentioned bid in reaching a fair price at this time. Another factor which seems a bit unfair to us is the appraisal of the five lots involved in the proposed expansion program. It is difficult for us to understand how there could be any very noticeable difference between the values of Lots 174 and 175. They are practically the same size, have the same level building area, and the same lovely pano- ramic view. And, it would further seem that both Lots 174 , and 175 should have a decided preference over the three lots I on the west side of Franklin St. They are larger, have greater level area and the east view from them is superior. '0:,1 With these factors in mind, and with others that may readily be presented, Mrs. Tindall and I feel that we are not jus tified in selling Lot ne. 174 fer less than $'7750.00 bet.
