A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING STATE OF CALIFORNIA CANNABIS EQUITY ACT
GRANT FUNDING
WHEREAS, the members of the California Legislature have recognized the need
for cannabis equity grant funding; and
WHEREAS, funding has been provided to the Governor’s Office of Business and
Economic Development to provide grant funds to local governments; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica supports the development of a local equity
program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica has determined that it will use grant funds
from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to conduct a
cannabis equity assessment and assist the development of a local equity program as
described in its application for grant funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE:
SECTION 1. The City Manager of the City of Santa Monica, or designee, is
authorized to execute, by electronic signature on behalf of the City of Santa Monica, the
grant agreement with the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development,
including any extensions or amendments thereof and any subsequent grant agreement
with the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development in relation thereto.

SECTION 2. City Council agrees that any liability arising out of the performance
of this grant agreement, including civil court actions for damages, shall be the
responsibility of the City of Santa Monica. The Governor’s Office of Business and
Economic Development and the State of California disclaim responsibility for any such
liability.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution by
the City Council of the City of Santa Monica, and thenceforth and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.
