The funds will aid students in participating in a unique opportunity to perform in cathedrals across Spain, including Barcelona, Burgos, and Madrid. These seniors, who experienced disruptions due to the pandemic during their freshman year in 2020, are fundraising for the trip, and this allocation would help match some of their raised funds. EXTERNAL February 22, 2024 Dear Mayor Brock and Council members, I support the approval of agenda item 16-A, allocation of $15,000 in Council discretionary funds to support the Samohi Choir program by matching the students' fundraising efforts for their upcoming tour of Spain. This is both a musical and a cultural experience that they will never forget, and it's a testament to the high quality of the SMMUSD music program.
