EXTERNAL    October 16, 2023 Dear Mayor Davis, Mayor Pro Tempore Negrete, and City Councilmembers, As a parent of a musician at Santa Monica High School, I urge you to support the Orchestra Parents Association’s request by granting $15,000 in matching funds to the OPA scholarship fund to ensure a successful Samohi Symphony Orchestra spring break trip and performance in Germany. Samohi students will be serving as ambassadors of Santa Monica, reflecting this community’s diversity and its commitment to nurturing artists and the arts. How great is that?! The Samohi Orchestra Parents Association works to ensure that all students, regardless of financial need, can participate in enriching extracurricular activities like this tour. As the Samohi Symphony works diligently to prepare for a once-in-a- lifetime experience, I hope we can count on your support. Supporting these musicians speaks directly to the City’s commitment to achieving a more equitable and inclusive community. Vote YES on Item 16.c. Sincerely, Ann Thanawalla 90403   ITEM 16.C.
