EXTERNAL
I have called the fairly new 311 # to get parking Dept info etc. they put me on long holds and quite often cannot assist.
Can we just get the reception at city hall reinstated. This is wasting citizens of SM time.
I am still holding now

Item 14 – Public Comment ‐‐ Unity
Good evening/morning, Mayor, Council, City Manager, City Attorney,
I’m hoping to leave work by 11 p.m. tonight to deliver this message in person. If not, this will
have to do.
I work in TV news so I see the divisiveness that drives and consumes politics in Washington DC
every day.
It’s killing our country and hurting us here in Santa Monica.
We’re all tired of it, its holding us back and it’s up to you council members, along with our City
Manager and City Attorney, to help end it.
If we don’t, we’ll fail.
Let’s all start looking in the mirror instead of the magnifying glass.
It’s an election year so politicians tend to pull back and retreat, careful to say non‐committal
things that mean little, so essentially, nothing will change.
I say do the opposite. Work together, focus on big issues and lead the way on them instead of
fighting over them.
That’s what real leaders do. And the greatest succeed because they bring people together.
Sounds a little “Rah‐rah” but it’s really just the plain, hard truth.
Too many of us go for the jugular too often and too quickly.
Good government starts with getting along. Make THAT your first pillar. Then maybe we stand
half a chance at advancing on the others.
Thank you, and please watch your in‐box for my email about the Memorial Park Expansion,
and how we can break ground within one year.
