Subject: Letter of Resignation
It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you all that after much thinking and discussing with my wife, I have
decided to resign from the PSROC effective immediately.
Starting late was challenging and the learning curve is steep and often times unforgiving. Truthfully my consultancy work
is increasing and I am realizing that there are times when a meeting conflicts with work I am doing for a client and I am
at a crossroads over which is more important and I realize that missing a meeting or emergency meeting can often times
mean I miss out on a crucial vote or the opportunity to express my opinion.
The work the PSROC is setting out to do is important, but I feel that the city council and city need to be clearer on the
expectations/powers it has for the commission and the work that needs to be done.
I will give credit to Derek who went out of his way to reach out to me once the reigns of the group were handed to him;
he took the time to reach out and ask me what my thoughts were and interests in some of the ad hoc groups.
I realize that we are all volunteers and I commend all of you for the continued work that you will be taking on to further
improve how policing is done in Santa Monica.
I wish you all the best of luck in the work that lies ahead.
