To: Council Mailbox <Council.Mailbox@SMGOV.NET>; Council Mailbox <Council.Mailbox@SMGOV.NET>  Subject: Agenda Item #13 ‐Information re "religious exemptions" for vaccines  EXTERNAL  Hi everyone,  I appreciate that you are bringing this item to the Council agenda.  I would urge that the city attorney and all  of you take a very, very careful look at the criteria for religious exemptions.  A "pastor" in Sacramento is  offering phony religious exemption letter.  Although the law would not require you to accept a religious  exemption of this kind from front‐facing staff such as first responders. it seems important that we match city  policy to other vaccines, where we do not allow religious exemptions lest children die.   There are right wing  pastors in many of the areas where our first responders live.  I hope that on Tuesday you will all clarify what  exemptions you are granting ‐ except for legitimate medical reasons, with daily testing at the employees'  expense, I know of no scientific fact that would support this exemption.  https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021‐08‐19/sacramento‐area‐megachurch‐pastor‐offers‐religious‐ exemption‐letters‐for‐covid‐19‐vaccines  Thank you for considering my thoughts  (To the kind councilmembers who told me how to format and address this correctly, please let me know if I  did it wrong.)  Lyn Greenberg  Item 13.F 08/24/21 1 of 7 Item 13.F 08/24/21 13.F.a Packet Pg. Meeting 08/24/2021 Date:Tuesday, August 24, 2021 12:19:48 PM EXTERNAL Dear City Board Members, With regard to Item 13-F -Request of Councilmembers Davis, Brock and Mayor Himmelrich that the City Council express its position that, to protect the health and safety of both City employees and the public we serve, absent legitimate medical or religious concerns, all City employees, volunteers, and contractors should be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Please vote NO. I am going to make this email short. Please exercise common sense. This is about personal choice and one's sovereignty over their own bodies. There has to be personal choice. There are smart people who dont want the vaccine. Please vote NO You are protecting the health and safety of city employees by not mandating this product. Those who want to use this product can get it. Those who do not want too, have human rights and fundamental sovereignty over their bodies. The CDC says that 'Today, some of those data were published in CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), demonstrating that Delta infection resulted in similarly high SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in vaccinated and unvaccinated people. High viral loads suggest an increased risk of transmission and raised concern that, unlike with other variants, vaccinated people infected with Delta can transmit the virus." thank you for your time, Jane Rainsford Resources: https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s0730-mmwr-covid-19.html Statement from CDC Director Item 13.F 08/24/21 5 of 7 Item 13.F 08/24/21 13.F.a Packet Pg. 826 Attachment: Written Comments (4721 : Vaccination requirement) Rochelle P. The discounted monthly passes still cost too much to encourage less frequent ridership and this is important to getting kids to/from Samohi. I support approval of Item 13F requiring vaccinations for employees, volunteers, and contractors. This is essential to reducing the negative impact of Covid and I hope SMMUSD does the same, including for students for whom the vaccine has been approved. Please add this to the public record of each item. Thanks, Nikki Kolhoff Santa Monica Resident 13.F.a Packet Pg. 829 Attachment: Written Comments (4721 : Vaccination requirement)
