ORDINANCE NO. 965 (CCS)
(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA FIXING THE RATES OF
TAXES AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1974 FOR THE
GENERAL CITY AND FOR THE PARKING AND
BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
For the purpose of raising the sums of
money necessary to be ralsed by taxatlon upon the taxable
property of the City of Santa r~onlca as a revenue to carryon
the various departments of sa~d City for the flscal year
beg~nning July 1, 1974, the rates of taxes for the Clty of
Santa Monlca hereby are flxed and taxes are hereby levied on all
taxable property in sald Clty for the fiscal year beginnlng
July 1, 1974, ln the number of cents upon each One Hundred
Dollars of assessed value of property as assessed by the County
Assessor and equalized by the Board of Supervlsors of the County
of Los Angeles, and for the several funds and purposes set forth
In the fo110wlng table. The taxes levied upon property in said
City hereinafter descrlbed and deslgnated as Distrlct Number 1
are at the rates set opposite the deslgnations of the respective
funds.
Dlstrlct Number 1:
All that portlon of the City of
Santa Monica lnc1uded wlthln the boundaries of the corporate
llmlts of said Clty.

SECTION 2.
For the purpose of rais~ng the sums of
money necessary to be ra~sed by an ad valorem tax upon all of the
land and improvements (but excluding personal property) in the
Parklng and BusLness Improvement Area in addltion to the taxes
levied ~n Taxat~on D~str~ct Number 1, a tax ~s levLed at the rate
of $2.25 upon each $100.00 of assessed value of the property as
assessed by the County Assessor and equallzed by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles. Said Parking and
Bus~ness Improvement Area has an assessed valuat~on of $7,333,350
and ~s described as follows:
"Bounded on the northeasterly side by the
center llne of 4th Court, the southeasterly
side by the center line of Broadway, the
southwesterly side by the center line of
1st Court, and the northwesterly side by
the center l~ne of W~lshire Boulevard,
all Ln the Clty of Santa Monica."
SECTION 3.
If any sect~on, subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase of this ord~nance ~s for any reason held to be
invalid or unconst~tut~onal by a decision of any court of

competent jurlsdiction, such declslon shall not affect the
valldlty of the remalning portlons of the ordlnance. The Clty
Councll hereby declares that it would have passed thls ordlnance
and each sectlon, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase hereof,
lrrespectlve of the fact that anyone or more sections, subsectlons,
sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalld or unconstitu-
tional.
SECTION 7.
The Mayor shall sign and the Clty Clerk
shall attest to the passage of this ordlnance. The City Clerk
shall cause the same to be publlshed once ln the offlClal
newspaper wlthin flfteen days after its adoptlon. This ordlnance
shall take effect upon adoptlon pursuant to Sectlon 619 of the
Charter of the City of Santa Monlca.
