ARTICLE VII OF THE SANTA MONICA 14UNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO PUBLIC WORKS PERMITS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA IvlONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO'im: SECTION 1. Section 7112 of the Santa Monica Municipal Code hereby is amended to read as follmls: SECTION 7112. Resurfacing Where Work is Done by City Forces. Where work is done by City Forces, all excavations shall be refilled promptly in the most wor~~anlike manner by the permittee, and the surplus material removed without delay. It shall be unlawful for any person to fail, refuse or neglect to comply with any of these regulations, or with any regulation of the Department of Public Works governing the refilling of excavations. The excavated or damaged area shall be replaced by the Department of Public Works, and the cost therefor shall be charged to the person, firm, or corporation making the excavation, according to the following schedule. Inspection Fee for Inspector per ho-ur ...........................,........................................................ 10.00 No persons perforNing any work under provisions of this Chapter shall fail, neglect or refuse to remove all materials and debris within three (3) days after completion of the work. Any driveway~ sidewalk~ curb, gutter or street permit which has been issued carries with it the right to place on public property materials to be used on the job; provided, that said materials are placed and lighted as provided by law. No driveway approach may cross a property line as extended without the consent of the Superintendent of Streets. All materials and workrnanship for work provided for under this article shall conform with applicable provisions of Standard Specificatlons of the Department of" Engineering. _2_ ~ Fe e Permits issued for the installation, repair, alteration of sidewalks, curbs, gutters, or driveway aprons and for street and alley surfacing, shall require that the person doing the work under any such permit shall notify the Department of Public Works twenty-four (24) hours before the time set for inspection. Work completed without this notification or request for inspec- tion will not be accepted by the Department of Public Works. All such work shall be performed to the satisfaction of the Superintendent of streets and under the supervision of an inspector provided by him. SECTION 3. Section 7142 of the Santa Monica Municipal Code hereby is amended to read as follows: SECTION 7142. Permit and Inspection Fees. (a) Before granting any permit pursuant to the pro- visions of Section 7140, except applications filed by a department of the City, the Street Superintendent shall require the payment by the applicant therefor of a fee in the sum of $25.00 for each such permit issued, which fee shall include the payment of one inspection only. A fee of $10.00 Shall be charged for each additional inspection required. If connection to the City sewer is made prior -3- -e e to the securing of the sewer permit required in Section 7140~ all applicable fees, deposits and charges shall be in an amount that is twice the amount provided in Article VII, Chapter I of the Santa Monica Municipal Code. (b) Permits and inspection fees required by this section are in addition to any permit or inspection fees or deposits required by Section 7107 to 7113 inclusive. (c) If there is no existing Y-branch or opening in the main line sewer~ storm drain or catch basin~ an additional saddle or tapping fee must be prepaid in accordance with Section 7145, before any permit will be issued under this section. SECTION 4. Section 7145A of the Santa Monica Municipal Code hereby is amended to read as follows: SECTION 7145A. Sewer Capping. (a) Before the Building Officer shall issue a Building Demolition and/or Moving Permit, a permit must be secured from the Street Superintendent to cap the sanitary sewer at the property line. (b) Upon receipt of an application to cap a sewer connec- tion at the property line, the Street Superintendent shall issue a sewer capping permit upon the payment of a fee in the sum of $10.00 for each permit issued, which fee shall include one inspection only. A fee of $10.00 shall be charged for each additional inspection required. The permit shall become void at the same time the build- ing demolition or moving per~it, as the case may be, becomes void. (c) An owner or possessor of land Shall, within five (5) days after demolition or removal of any structure upon the land to which a sewer is attached, cause the sewer to be capped at the property line. The capped sewer shall not be backfilled until inspected by the Department of Public Works. SECTION 5. The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall attest to the passage of this ordinance. The City Clerk Shall cause -4- . . e e the same to be published once in the official newspaper within fifteen days after its adoption.
