AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING
SECTION 8300 OF CHAPTER 3 OF ARTICLE
VIII OF THE SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL
CODE, PERTAINING TO THE 1975 ELECTRICAL
CODE.
WHEREAS, the Electrical Board of Appeals has revlewed
the Santa Monica Electrical Code (1975 Edition); and
WHEREAS, the Electrical Board of Appeals has conferred
with the BU11ding Offlcer and the Senior Electrical Inspector
concerning thlS Code and the modificatlons and additions there~n
to the National Electrical Code (1975 Edition); and
WHEREAS, the Electrical Board of Appeals recommends
prompt enactment into law of the 1975 Santa Monica Electrical
Code as drafted; and
WHEREAS, the modifications to the National Electrical
Code (1975 Edit~on) are due to the local conditions of the local
policy and rules of the serving utillty, the Southern Californla
Edison Company.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Section 8300 is hereby amended to read
as folloW's:
Section 8300. That certaln document entitled
"Santa Monica Electr~cal Code (1975 Edltion)II three copies of
WhlCh are on file in the Offlce of the City Clerk for use and
exam~natlon by the public, is hereby adopted as the Electrical
Code of the Clty of Santa Mon~ca and shall be referred to, together
Wlth the amendments thereto, as the "Electrical Code."

Each and all of the regulatlons,
provlsions, penalties, conditions, and terms of sald Electrical
Code are made a part hereof as though fully set forth hereln.
No person shall erect, construct,
enlarge, alter, repair, move, remove, convert, demollsh, occupy,
possess, equip, use or ma~ntain any bu~ldlng or structure, or
flxture attached thereto, in violation of the regulatlons contained
ln said Code hereby adopted.
SECTION 2.
The City Council flnds and determlnes
that the modlflcations to the Natlonal Electrical Code (1975
Edition) proposed for the Santa Monlca Electrlcal Code (1975
Edltlon) are due to the local POllCY and rules of the Southern
Cal~fornla Ed~son Company, the serving utillty.
SECTION 3.
If any section, subsection, sentence,
clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be
invalld or unconstitutional by a decision of any court of competent
]urlsdlctlon, such declslon shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of the ordlnance. The City Council hereby
declares that lt would have passed this ordinance and each section,
subsectlon, sentence, clause or phrase hereof, lrrespect~ve of
the fact that anyone or more sections, subsections, sentences,
clauses or phrases be declared inval~d or unconstltutional.
SECTION 3.
The Mayor shall sign and the Clty Clerk
shall attest to the passage of thlS ordinance. The Clty Clerk
shall cause the same to be publlshed once ln the offlc~al
newspaper within fifteen (15) days after lts adoptlon. The
ordlnance shall become effective after thirty (30) days from lts
adoption.
