A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AND EXECUTE
ALL CALRECYCLE REUSE GRANTS FOR WHICH THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA IS ELIGIBLE
WHEREAS, Public Resources Code sections 48000 et seq. authorize the
Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to administer
various grant programs (grants) in furtherance of the efforts of the State of
California (state) to reduce, recycle and reuse solid waste generated in the
State thereby preserving landfill capacity and protecting public health and safety
and the environment; and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of this authority CalRecycle is required to
establish procedures governing the application, awarding, and management of
the grants; and
WHEREAS, CalRecycle grant application procedures require, among
other things, an applicant’s governing body to declare by resolution certain
authorizations related to the administration of CalRecycle grants.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The submittal of applications to the Department of
Resources Recycling and Recovery for all grants for which the City of Santa
Monica is eligible is hereby authorized for a period of five years from the date
of adoption of this resolution, that is, from September 9, 2020 through
September 8, 2025.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee is hereby authorized and
empowered to execute in the name of the City of Santa Monica all grant
documents, including but not limited to, applications, agreements,
amendments, and requests for payments, necessary to secure grant funds and
implement the approved grant project.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution,
and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in force and effect.
