City of Santa Monica Board and Commissions Applicants Urban Forest Task Force Name Application Date Tom Berquist 05/28/2019 Ryan Hass 04/18/2019 Grace Phillips 06/17/2019 Jodi Summers 05/23/2019 TOTAL APPLICANTS: 4     1 Vernice Hankins From:Emily Forscher <emilyforscher@gmail.com> Sent:Monday, September 9, 2019 5:01 PM To:councilmtgitems Subject:Urban Forest Task Force application Attachments:Emily_Forscher_June_UFTF.pdf; Emily_Forscher_Sep_UFTF.pdf Dear Councilmembers,  I'm writing to ask that you please consider my application to fill one of the two Urban Forest Task Force vacancies or that  you please continue this agenda item until the next council meeting.  Due to my misunderstanding of the Grancius system, I didn't refile my application – which I initially submitted in June –  until this morning, when I realized that it wasn't active. The application posted on the city's website this afternoon. I've  attached to this message copies of my submitted applications from June and September. I'm deeply sorry for my  mistake.  I believe I would be asset to the task force. As I note in my application, I'm passionate about the city's urban forest. Over  the past 18 months, I’ve devoted hundreds of hours to promoting community awareness of the city’s 35,000 public  trees.  I've also participated in California ReLeaf workshops.   In collaboration with city staff and Urban Forest Task Force members, I lead a weekly volunteer group developing a free,  open‐source web map with information about each city‐owned tree. Since March 2018, I've attended all but one Urban  Forest Task Force meeting. At this spring's meeting, the task force chair formally recognized my contributions to the  Urban Forest Task Force's efforts.  I hope you can either include my application in your deliberations tomorrow or continue this agenda item until  September 24. The Urban Forest Task Force next meets on September 25.  Thank you for your time and consideration,  Emily Forscher  Item 13-D 09/10/19 1 of 6 Item 13-D 09/10/19
