A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA TO DISCONTINUE PAYING AND REPORTING
THE VALUE OF EMPLOYER PAID MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS FOR
THE SANTA MONICA POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Santa Monica ("City") has the
authority to implement Government Code Section 20691; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Santa Monica has had a written labor
policy or agreement which specifically provides for the normal member contributions to
be paid by the employer, and reported as additional compensation; and
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Santa Monica has amended its
written labor policy or agreement to specifically provide for the normal member
contributions to be paid by the employee; and
WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedures to implement or modify City
contributions pursuant to provisions of Government Code Section 20691 is the adoption
by the governing body of the City of Santa Monica, a resolution regarding said Employer
Paid Member Contributions (EPMC); and

WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Santa Monica, after meeting and
conferring with the representative of the Santa Monica Police Officers Association, has
elected to discontinue paying and reporting EPMC:
• The benefits provided under Government Code Section 20691 shall be
discontinued and the City of Santa Monica shall pay 0% (zero percent) of
the normal member contributions as EPMC pursuant to the terms of the
negotiated written labor agreement between the City of Santa Monica and
the Santa Monica Police Officers Association.
• The discontinuance of the EMPC shall only apply to police safety
employees occupying the classifications represented by the Santa Monica
Police Officers Association.
• The effective date of this Resolution shall be July 1, 2017.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica hereby elects to
discontinue paying and reporting the value of Employer Paid Member Contributions for
police safety employees occupying the classifications represented by the Santa Monica
Police Officers Association, as set forth above.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
