A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING RENTAL
AND MEMBERSHIP RATES FOR THE BREEZE
BIKE SHARE SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica (the "City") has established goals in
the Land Use and Circulation Element and the Sustainable City Plan to reduce
congestion and Green House Gases (GHG) emissions that harm air quality and
contribute to global warming; and
WHEREAS, the strategy for reducing vehicle trips and vehicle miles
traveled (VMT) includes encouraging all members of the Santa Monica
community to take more trips using active transportation modes such as walking
and bicycling; and
WHEREAS, the City received grants from CalTrans and the Air Quality
Management District ("AQMD") to purchase and install equipment for a citywide
bike share system, an active transit system owned by the City; and
WHEREAS, on November 11, 2014, the City Council of the City of Santa
Monica (the "City Council") selected CycleHop, LLC to install the bike share
system and to operate and maintain it for public use for a period of seven years,
