13.B Request of Mayor Winterer and Councilmember McKeown that the Council
allocate $19,000 of discretionary funds to Beautify Earth, a 501(c)(3) non-
profit, to match funds aiding in the production of murals at three
businesses in the Pico neighborhood and four Santa Monica public
elementary schools, and for the establishment of “Civic Love,” a new
beach trash cleanup and marketing campaign.

Subject: murals on tonight's agenda
Please, take a break from murals. While one can debate if they represent art not all of them have decent workmanship.
If you want to beautify the city buy larger trashcans and empty them frequently.( especially if they are placed close to
schools or take‐out venues ) In fact many city art projects designed over the years start looking shabby pretty soon.
Create a special fund for upkeep or removal.
