R11098City Council Meeting: February 13, 2018 Santa Monica, California RESOLUTION NUMBER 11 O `t S (CCS) (City Council Series) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR AWARD UNDER THE SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES TRANSPORTATION PLANNING GRANT PROGRAM FOR A WILSHIRE BOULEVARD CORRIDOR SAFETY ENHANCEMENT STUDY WHEREAS, on September 14, 2017, the California Department of Transportation ("Caltrans"), through its Sustainable Communities Transportation Planning Grant Program, invited applicants to submit local and regional multimodal transportation and land use planning projects that further the region's Regional Transportation Plan ("RTP") Sustainable Communities Strategies ("SCS"), contribute to the State's greenhouse gas ("GHG") reduction targets, and also assist in achieving the Caltrans Mission and Grant Program Overarching Objectives; and WHEREAS, on October 20, 2017, the City of Santa Monica (the "City") submitted an application entitled "Wilshire Boulevard Corridor Safety Enhancement Study" (the "Study"), to identify targeted safety enhancements along the Wilshire Boulevard Corridor; and WHEREAS, the Study will include a data -driven assessment of crash reports, and input from first responders and the community, while building upon the goals and recommendations identified in local and regional planning efforts; and 0 WHEREAS, the Study will include recommendations for cost-effective safety measures that can be implemented by the City in the short- and long-term, with a plan for implementation; and WHEREAS, the application submitted to the California Department of Transportation included a total project budget in the amount of $510,000, with $450,000 from the Sustainable Communities Planning grant and the City of Santa Monica providing a local match of $60,000; and WHEREAS, on December 15, 2017, the California Department of Transportation notified the City of its award. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica authorizes the City Manager to negotiate and execute any agreements and amendments thereto to accept a grant from the California Department of Transportation for a Wilshire Boulevard Corridor Safety Enhancement Study, in the amount of $450,000, including the commitment to expend a local match in the total maximum amount of $60,000. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
