We are lucky!
Four Cuban artists arrived to Santa Monica today for a show at the Lois Lambert Gallery on Saturday. This is a
great opportunity for you, our Cultural Affairs and the Arts Commission of Santa Monica to participate in the
diversity l am working hard to achieve. I just met them and saw their work and is as good or even better than.
Basquiat. Collectors are lucky we have them in our city. They are female artists to the COSW should also be
involved.
In response to the various Cuban art exhibitions in the United States, The Kunsthalle Rostock in Germany has
produced an exhibition of 30 Cuban artist's works. The attached article encompasses the essence of how
Northern European countries are in a battle of overshadowing one another to become the most prominent
connoisseur of Cuban art in the market.
The private nature of Cuban art due to political trading restrictions have made it even more sought after. These
cultural assets are not only seen from an aesthetic point of view, but it also gives insight into the lives and
viewpoints of the privatized history of life under Cuban restrictions.
Though these exhibitions catch the attention of gallery attenders with their titles that emphasize the
demographic nationality of these works, it is hoped that they will leave with an appreciation for the art itself and
less for where it comes from.

I would like to bring them to the City Council Meeting tonight to welcome them to our city and recognize their
contribution to the betterment of our culture.
