A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ACCEPTING THE
TENTATIVE AGREEMENTS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING WITH
THE ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM ASSOCIATES, MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE
ASSOCIATION, THE PUBLIC ATTORNEYS UNION, AMEND THE MEMORANDUM
OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE SANTA MONICA FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 1109
IAFF, AND REVISE THE EXECUTIVE PAY PLAN AND CONFIDENTIAL
UNREPRESENTED EMPLOYEES PAY PLAN
WHEREAS, authorized representatives of the City administration and the
Administrative Team Associates, Municipal Employees Association, the Public Attorneys
Union, and the Santa Monica Firefighters Local 1109 ("Local 1109") have met and
conferred in accordance with the Meyers-Millias Brown Act (MMBA), codified at
Government Code Section 3500 et seq., and have reached agreement on wages, hours,
and other terms and conditions of employment; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Government Code Section 3505.1, on June 14,
2016, the tentative agreements reached between authorized representatives of the City
administration and the Administrative Team Associates, Municipal Employees
Association, Public Attorneys Union, and Local 1109, and a revised Executive Pay Pian

and Confidential Unrepresented Employees Pay Plan, were presented to the City Council
of the City of Santa Monica for consideration, and
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 3505.1 requires preparation of a written
Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the employee organization if a
tentative agreement is reached and adopted by the City Council, and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to promote and
provide harmonious relations, cooperation, and understanding between the City and the
Administrative Team Associates, Municipal Employees Association, Public Attorneys
Union, Local 1109, and participants of the Executive Pay Plan and of the Confidential
Unrepresented Employees Pay Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica hereby accepts the
tentative agreements that have been reached between authorized representatives of the
City administration and the Administrative Team Associates, Municipal Employees
Association, Public Attorneys Union, and Local 1109.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Monica hereby approves and
authorizes the City Manager to execute an individual Memorandum of Understanding with
the Administrative Team Associates (FY2016-2017), the Municipal Employees
Association (FY2016-2017), the Public Attorneys Union (FY2016-2017), and an amended
Memorandum of Understanding with Local 1109 (FY2014-2017), and to execute a revised

Executive Pay Plan (FY2016-2017) and Confidential Unrepresented Employees Pay Plan
(FY2016-2017).
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
