A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING THE PUBLIC RIDE FEE ON
JUNE 12, 2016 FOR THE SANTA MONICA PIER CAROUSEL
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica operates the Santa Monica Pier Carousel
housed in the Looff Hippodrome aka Merry -Go -Round building for the public's enjoyment
and benefit; and
WHEREAS, the Looff Hippodrome was declared a National Historic Landmark by
the United States Department of the Interior in 1987; and
WHEREAS, the Looff Hippodrome opened its doors to the public on June 12, 1916
and will celebrate its 100 year anniversary on June 12, 2016; and
WHEREAS, to commemorate this important event, the City of Santa Monica will
adjust ride fee for the carousel for one day, on June 12, 2016 to reflect the ride fee
charged in 1916.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. On and only on June 12, 2016 the public ride fee for the Santa
Monica Pier Carousel shall be set at 5 cents ($0.05) for each rider, per ride.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
