A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DESIGNATING AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVES TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA WITH THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY
SERVICES AND THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
REGARDING GRANTS
WHEREAS, on January 14, 1994, the City of Santa Monica (the "City")
experienced a major earthquake causing significant damage within portions of the City;
WHEREAS, very soon after the earthquake, a state and federal disaster area
was declared, entitling the City to receive certain federal financial assistance under
Public Law 93-288 as amended by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and
Emergency Assistance Act of 1988 and state financial assistance under the California
Disaster Assistance Act, as administered by the Federal Emergency Management
Agency ("FEMA") and the California Office of Emergency Services ("Cal OES"); and
WHEREAS, on March 22, 1994, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica (the
"City Council") adopted Resolution Number 8733 (CCS) designating authorized

representatives for the City ("Resolution 8733") for purposes of executing official
documentation associated with the financial assistance the City received; and
WHEREAS, the City now desires to update its authorized representatives in
order to complete the close out process related to the financial assistance received, and
to designate authorized representatives who may execute for and on behalf of the City
in the event of future disasters.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager, the Assistant City Manager, and the Director of
Finance are hereby designated as the authorized representatives to execute for and on
behalf of the City of Santa Monica with the California Office of Emergency Services and
the Federal Emergency Management Agency related to disaster assistance.
SECTION 2, Resolution Number 8733 (CGS) is hereby repealed in its entirety.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect for a period of three
(3) years.
