A special meeting of the Santa Monica City Council was called to order by Mayor McKeown at 10:03 a.m., on
Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Ken Edwards Center, 1527 4"' Street.

CONVENE/PLEDGE On order of the Mayor, the City Council convened at 10:03 a.m., with all
members present excepting Mayor Pro Tem Vazquez and Councilmembers
O'Day and O'Connor. City Manager Rick Cole led the assemblage in the
Pledge of Allegiance.
STUDY SESSION: 4.A. Strategic Goals and SMART Metrics
Recommended Action
Staff recommends that the City Council establish three to five priority
strategic goals with measurable three to five year outcomes, with the goal
of identifying game changing priorities that will make a difference in
community safety, wellbeing, prosperity, duality of life, and sustainability.

possible priorities.
Staff direction was provided to focus on establishing a new model for
mobility, maintaining an inclusive and diverse community, and securing
local control of the City land occupied by the Santa Monica Airport, with a
secondary focus on building on the partnership with SMMUSD and SMC
to emphasize Santa Monica as a "learning community" from Cradle to
Career and beyond and addressing homelessness.
On order of the Mayor, the City Council meeting was adjourned at 1:32
pm.
