Bid No. 1474.
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for containers in the total amount
of $37,006.72, including applicable sales tax, Funds for this
purchase are in account number 80- 975-127 -000 -000, Refuse Bins
Revolving Account, budgeted at $355,000.00.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
two hundred (200) two (2) cubic yard refuse containers in accordance
with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and
read August 14, 1979. 'Proposal forms were mailed to four (_4)
container manufacturers and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two (2) proposals
were received, both containing alternate bids:

Terms are net and no options are offered by either bidder. The
alternate bid of Consolidated Fabricators is based upon use of a
stamped caster in lieu of the forged type previously used, The

alternate bid of both firms, Cubic Container and the recommended
firm, Consolidated Fabricators, featured stamped casters of the type
currently in use. Both firms had submitted similar bids in October,
1978. The City has tested the casters offered as alternates and
found them to be fully acceptable for the City's use.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Consolidated Fabricators
Corporation, in the total amount of $37,006,72, including tax, as
the lowest and best bidder,
