SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for Re- Upholstering Ninety -Six
(96) Lobby Seats - Santa Monica Civic Auditorium

INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid to re- upholster ninety -six (96)
lobby seats in the total amount of $2,111.52 including applicable
tax. Funds for this purchase are available in account number
10- 400 -621- 000 -950, Civic Auditorium Capital Expense.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to supply the re-
upholstering of ninety -six (96) lobby seats in accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
January 3, 1980. Proposal packages were mailed to one hundred - fifteen
(115) potential suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. The bid contained
two (2) items:
Item No. 1: Furnish all materials and install the new
seat covers.
Item No. 2: Supply to the City the finished seat covers -
to be installed by the City.
Seven (7) bids were received, with Troy Upholstery being the lowest
and best bidder.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award be made to Troy Upholstery for Item
No. 1 (furnish and install ninety -six (96) lobby seat covers) as the
lowest and best bidder meeting specifications, in the total amount of
$2,111.52 including tax.
