This report recommends that the City Council award a contract for an emergency
exit from the City Council Chambers to Joseph W. Eubanks in the amount of
$20,290 and to approve appurtenant expenditure for a total of $21,000.
Background
In accordance with the Fire Code, an emergency exit must be provided for the
City Council Chambers.
This exit is to be located just southerly of the existing exit, where the
large colored zoning map is mounted. The new exit shall terminate via a set
of stairs on the lawn area just outside the Engineering Department. Existing
planting adjacent to the building will partially camouflage the new stairway.
Bids for the subject project were opened in Room 201B after 3:00 p.m., Monday,
August 27, 1979, and read publicly by the City Clerk. Plans and specifications
were issued to seven contractors. Two bids were received as follows:

Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council:

Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council award a contract for an emergency
exit from the City Council Chambers.
Background
In accordance with the Fire Code, an emergency exit must be provided for the
City Council Chambers.
This exit is to be located just southerly of the existing exit, where the

This project has been advertised anq bids will be opened August 27, 1979.
Funding in the amount of $20,000 is available for this project, in the 1979 -80
City Hall Budget.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the subject contract be awarded to the lowest respon-
sible bidder to be determined August 27, 1979, after the bid opening. A
supplemental staff report will be furnished naming the low contractor and the
amount of his bid.
