Funds for the word processing unit will be drawn from the City Attorney and Data Processing accounts. Background In response to informal bidding, we received one for the word processing unit. CITY COUNCIL SERIES (CCS) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING FURTHER FORMAL BID PROCEDURE AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION FOR PURCHASE OF WORD PROCESSING EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica Data Processing Division has a requirement for word processing equipment; and WHEREAS, the unit must be compatable with the City's Hewlett- Packard 3000 Computer; and WHEREAS, this Editor - Scriber word processing unit best meets the needs of.the City; and WHEREAS, the Portland Oregon School District and State Controller are presently using this instrument; and WHEREAS, the City has informally advertised for bids to supply this instrument; and 0 WHEREAS, to the best of Staff's knowledge only one company can supply this instrument for existing City computer; and NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLL.QWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement exists to purchase the word processing equipment. SECTION 2. That the informal bid solicitation is sufficient search of the market and further bid solicitation would cause un- necessary expense and delay. 1 of 2 SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a purchase agreement for this instrument. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution, and thenceforth and.thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
