SR-02-09-1982-6GGS: SES:dd Council Meeting February 9, 1982 TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Staff Santa Monica, California SUBJECT: Request for Increase to Change Order No. 12 to Construction Contract No. 3458 (CCS) for Emergency Reroofing of the Pier Carousel Building Introduction This report recommends that City Council authorize an increase in Change Order No. 12 to the construction contract with Eubanks Construction Corporation to a total of $48,134.50 for emergency reroofing of the Pier Carousel Building. Background The City Council on December 15, 1981, authorized a Change Order not to exceed $25,000 for the complete reroofing of the Carousel. In addition, a motion was adopted which urged staff to be as historically consistent as possible in the selection of the materials to be used on the roof. Staff met with members of the Landmarks Commission and it was determined that the new roof dome should be galvanized iron sheet metal to match existing rather than the proposed asphalt shingles. Also, the timber cupola is being repaired in kind using marine plywood, painted silver. The total cost increase to the change order due to these items is $23;134.50. Repairs originally authorized on December 15, 1981, include installing new cast iron roof drains, and "hot mopped" cap sheets over roof areas other than the dome, all to match existing.. 6 GS:SES:dd Santa Monica., California Council Meeting February 9, 1982 The total cost of the roof repair is $48,134.50. The additional funds required for the project are available in Account No. 30- 400 - 622 -000 -901 ('Pier Capital Projects), Recommendation Staff recommends that City Council authorize an increase in Change Order No. 12 in -the amount of $23,134.50 to Construction Contract No. 3458 (CCS) (to a total of $48,134.50) for emergency reroofing of the Pier Carousel Building.
