SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for a Brush Chipper
BID NO. 1501 MAR 1 1 9980
INTRODUCTION
This response concerns award of bid for a Brush Chipper in the total
amount of $8,751.82 including tax, Funds are available in account
number 46- 400 - 512 - 000 -950, Recreation and Parks Capital Equipment
Account.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
one (1) Brush Chipper in accordance with specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read February 14, 1980. Proposal
packages were mailed to thirty -.nine (39) potential suppliers and
notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. Two (2) bids were received as listed on the attached
Summary of Bids, The Chipper recommended for purchase below was
specified to meet or exceed all state and federal safety and noise
regulations. In addition to the specification's, actual test of the
equipment were performed for City observers with positive results.
The noise level was much lower than our present equipment. Other
general operating safety features make this equipment more safe to use.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award be made to Asplundh Equipment Sales
and Service in the total amount of $8,751.82 including tax.
