SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for Detector Check Valves
BID NO: 1498
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid for Detector Check Valves in the
total amount of $30,753.48, including tax. Funds are available in
account number 38- 955 - 200 - 000 -000, dater Department Revolving Inventory.
These valves are charged to individual work order accounts as issued.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
Detector Check Valves in accordance with City specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read February 5, 1980. Proposal forms
were mailed to twenty -eight (28) prospective bidders and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Six (6) proposals were received as listed on the attached Summary of
Bids. Detector Check Valves are used in fire water lines to prevent
free water usage from otherwise unmetered fire water pipes.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the award for Items 1 and 2 be made to Hersey
Products, in the amount of $10,060.16 and to Taylor Jett Comnany for
Items 3 and 4, in the amount of $15,817.32 and to ITT Grinnell Corpor-
ation for Item 5, in the amount of $4,876.00, as the lowest and best
bidders. These amounts include sales tax.
