Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for two hundred fifteen (215) bus
brake block sets in the total amount of $12,737.88, including tax.
Funds for this purchase are budgeted in 1979 -80 fiscal year account
35- 955 - 100 - 000 -000, Transportation Department.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver
bus brake block sets, as required, during the period July 1, 1979
thru June 30, 1980, two bids were received and publicly opened and
read July 17, 1979. Proposal packages were mailed to nineteen (19)
prospective suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Recommendation
Although Pacific Wheel & Rim Serv., Inc. was the lower bidder, their
bus brake block sets had not been tested for coach use and they did
not furnish a sample for evaluation. It is therefore recommended
that the award be made to Houseman Bus Sales &. Parts Company, in
the total amount of $1
