Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for vinyl floor covering in the
amount of $6,477.00, including applicable taxes. Funds for this
purchase are budgeted in 1979 -80 fiscal year account 10- 400 -621- 000 -950,
Civic Auditorium.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to remove existing
tile flooring and install approximately 5,800 square feet of new
vinyl floor tile at the Civic Auditorium, one bid was received and
publicly opened and read September 13, 1979. Proposal packages
were mailed to fifteen (15) prospective suppliers and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions.
Recommendation
Pacific Rug & Carpet Company, Inc. submitted two bids, one based on
the tile being removed by the City; the other based on the tile being
removed by the supplier. The City can remove the tile at an
estimated cost of $608. It is therefore recommended that the City
elect to remove the tile, and the award be made to Pacific Rug &
Carpet Company, Inc., in the total amount of $6,477.00, including
taxes.

operators. Bid No. 1479
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for water valves and gear
operators in the total amount of $9,237.90. Funds are budgeted in
job account number 57763 -000.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver water valves and gear operators in accordance with City
specifications, three "No Bids" were received and publicly opened
and read September 11, 1979. Proposal packages had been mailed
to eight (8) prospective suppliers and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Addendum No. 1 was initiated on September 12, 1979, extending the
due date and proposal packages were mailed to seventeen (17) other
prospective suppliers. In response to this second mailing, two
bids were received and publicly opened and read September 27, 1979.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Flickinger Company as
the lower and better bidder as listed on the attached Summary of
Bids.
