SR-06-24-1980-11CSanta Monica, Cal ornia, June 24, 1980 TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Installation of Play Equipment at Marine Park- JUN 2 4 1980 Supplemental Report 7 -% / %)O, 35 -2y Introduction This supplemental report recommends the City Council award a contract for the installation of play equipment in the Tot Lot at Marine Park to Schwartz Construction Company in the amount of $22,815, the lowest bidder. Background Playground equipment in this area has deteriorated and is outdated. The staff report entitled "Renovation of Play Area at Marine Park, Item 11 -A on this agenda, describes the proposed changes to the equipment in the Tot Lot. Bids for the installation were opened after 3:0.0 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 1980, and were publicly read by the City Clerk. Plans and specifications were sent to eight contractors: Three bids were received as follows: Schwartz Construction Co. $22,815 Ryco Construction $24,242 Wakefield Assoc. No Bid Recommendation If items 11 -A and 11 -B are approved, it is recommended the contract be awarded to Schwartz Construction Company, the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $22,815. If item 11 -A and 11 -B are not approved, all bids are to be rejected. A total of $22,000 is available for the project, Due to the expenditure of funds for JUN 2 4 1980 T0: Mayor and City council Santa Monica, Ca ,fornia, June 24, 1980 -2- playground equipment in Item 11 -B, it is requested the City Council appropriate $19,466 for construction contract, inspection and contingencies. If not approved, all bids are to be rejected. If awarded, it is recommended that funds in the amount of $4,000.00 be appropriated for inspection and contingencies.
