SUBJECT: Recommendation to award a purchase order for
supplementary equipment and parts for the Police
Voice Activated Radio Detection Alarm System (VARDA)
Introduction:
This report concerns'the award of a purchase order for
equipment and parts to supplement the VARDA System presently
in operation in the Police Department in the total amount of
$6,957.76 including sales tax.
Funds for this purchase have been budgeted in account #
01- 300 - 301 - 000 -950.
Background:
In order to expand service to the city, it was deemed necessary
to purchase additional equipment to afford alarm coverage in
more areas.
This procurement will add radio detection alarms, cameras,
thermal detectors, receivers and miscellaneous component parts
required for installation.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that approval be given to award a purchase order
to VARDA Silent Alarms in the total amount including tax of
$6,957.76.
This equipment is of a proprietary nature and this action would
be consistant with the Sant Monica Municipal Code section
2506A (1). 5 1
