SUBJECT: Recommendation to award Purchase Order for Power
Sweeper. (Bid No. 1540)
Introduction
This report concerns award of one (1) Power Sweeper in the total
amount of $8,465.80 including applicable sales tax. Funds for
this purchase have been budgeted in account number 30- 400 - 622 -000-
950.
Background
The Santa Monica Pier Maintenance Division needs to replace the
Tennant Model #86 (1970) Sweeper to satisfactorily maintain the
Santa Monica Pier. The Council approved 10/14/80, the award of
the bid to the Tennant Co. for two (2) Model #240 Power Sweepers
with scrubber attachments at the last regular Council meeting. Pier
maintenance has no need, for the scrubbing attachment. Tennant
has quoted a price of $8,930.00 plus tax and a liberal trade in
allowance of $1,000.00 on the Model 86 being replaced.
Recommendation
It is recommended the City Council adopt the attached Resolution
and award be made to the Tennant Company in the total amount
of $8,465.80, including tax, as the lowest and best bidder.

CITY COUNCIL SERIES
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING FURTHER FORMAL BID
PROCEDURE AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION
FOR PURCHASE OF ONE (1) POWER SWEEPER
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica Pier Maintenance has a
requirement for one (1) Power Sweeper.
WHEREAS, An award was approved by Council 10/14/80 for
two (2) Power Sweepers (Same basic model #240).
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY,COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement
exists to purchase the one (1) Power Sweeper
SECTION 2. That further bid solicitation would cause unnecessary
expense and delay.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to excute
a purchase agreement for the equipment.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be in
full force and effect.
