This report concerns award of bid for Printing Seascape in the total amount of
$6,782.65, including tax. Funds are available in the account number 01- 400 -542-
000 -649, Recreation and Parks.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to Print and Deliver Seascape in
accordance with City specification, bids were received and publicly opened and read
June 26, 1980. Proposal forms were mailed to fifteen (15) prospective bidders and
notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
One (1) proposal was received as listed. Subsequent follow -up on the "no bid" re-
vealed that the major part of the contract involved the newsprint used to print this
publication. The Bidders did not wish to bid on a fixed price due to the rising
cost of paper and the availability of the newsprint.
Recommendation
It is recommended the award be made to Independent Journal Newspaper as the only
bidder, in the amount of $6,782.65 as follows:
Item 1
Accomplish all preparation and printing of one (1) edition, 24 pages, 48,000
copies, including typesetting, paste up, art work, proofs, half tones, negatives,
printing, trimming, binding and delivery.
