Introduction
This report concerns award of water service fittings in the total amount of
$102,307.40 including tax. Funds are available in account number 38- 955 -200-
000 -000, Water Department Revolving Inventory. These fittings are charged to
individual work order accounts as issued.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver water service
fittings in accordance with specifications, bids were received and publicly opened
and read June 19, 1980. Proposal packages were mailed to thirty -nine (39) potential
suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. Five (5) bids were received as listed on the attached Summary of
Bids. The asterisks ( *) on the Summary indicate the bidder from whom each item
will be purchased. The City's right to award as to each item is a stated condition
of the bid proposal. Although Western Water Works is low bid on some of the items,
they bid "all or none" per group. This eliminates them from individual pricing.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to the Taylor Jett Company in the amount
of $74,807.68, to the Clow Corporation in the amount of $21,189.12, and to the
Western Water Works Company in the amount of $6,310.60, including tax.
