Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in the amount of $130,000 were
budgeted and are available for this project. State Gas Tax funds in the esti-
mated amount of $40,000 may be used to supplement the financing of this project.
A storm drain system in 3rd Street between Pico Boulevard and Strand Street was
recently completed. Due to this construction, portions of the street were re-
designed for removal of hazards, such as cross gutters and humps, and increasing
curb heights at corners for protection of pedestrians. Curb heights will also
be reduced on portions of the easterly side to allow car doors to be opened on
parked cars.
Wheel chair ramps will be constructed at corners requiring reconstruction.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the subject contract be awarded to A.M. Construction, the
lowest responsible bidder, subject to HUD approval, in the amount of $145,337.50
and that additional funds in the amount of $40,000 be appropriated from unappro-
priated Gas Tax funds to complete this project.
