SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for Tires and Tubes
BID NO. 1490
INTRODUCTION
This report concerns award of bid for Tires and Tubes in the approximate
yearly amount of $20,000.00, including tax. Funds for this budgeted
equipment are available in the Warehouse Inventory Account.
BACKGROUND
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver Tires and Tubes in accordance with City specifications,
for yearly contract, two (2) bids were received and publicly opened
and read May 29, 1980. Proposal packages were mailed to forty -one
(41) prospective suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Although the City
received two (2) bids, the staff feels it would be to the City's
advantage to purchase tires and tubes under the State Cooperative
Purchasing Program. The tires will be shipped from the Los Angeles
Warehouse. Please see the attached Summary of Bids.
RECOMMENDATION
It is therefore recommended the award be made to the State of
California Cooperative Purchasing Program with the lowest and
best pricing.
