SR-06-24-1980-6E13 - 500-006/911-000TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Staff SUBJECT: Supplemental Report - Construction of an Enclosure Around the City Yards Refuse Transfer Station - Award of Contract Introduction This report recommends the City Council award a contract for the construction of a masonry wall enclosure around the Refuse Transfer Station to Masonry Engineers, the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $150,598. Background The project was designed by Architect Steven Frew and consists of a 16 foot high split face masonry wall around the perimeter of the transfer station. Bids for the project opened in the City Hall Trailer after 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 1980, and were publicly read by the Deputy City Clerk. Plans and specifications were sent to seven contractors. Recommendation It is recommended City Council award the contract to Masonry Engineers, the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $150,598 and that inspection and contingency funds in the amount of $24,402 be appropriated to complete this project. Bids for this project will be opened after 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 1980, and will be publicly read by the City Clerk. Funds in the amount of amount of $200,000 are currently budgeted and available in Account No. 27- 500 - 441 -351 -920 (Sanitation Fund) for this project. Recommendation It is recommended that the subject contract be awarded to the lowest bidder (to be named in a supplemental report) in the amount of their bid and that inspection and contingency funds in the amount of $25,000 be appropriated to complete this project.
