SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for (1) Beach Cleaning
Machine Bid No. 1543
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid for (1) Beach Cleaning Machine in
the total amount of $25,896:86 including applicable sales tax. Funds
for this purchase have been budgeted in account number 11- 400 - 521 -000-
950.
Background
This beach cleaning machine is needed to replace one of the 16 year
old machines presently in Beach Maintenance Service. Both of the
old machines are presently out of service awaiting spare parts. One
has been out of service for four (4) months. The machine being re-
placed will be salvaged for parts. In response to published Notice
Inviting Bids to furnish and deliver (1) Beach Cleaning Machine in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and publicly
opened and read September 18, 1980, 3:00 P.M. Proposal forms were
mailed to six (6) suppliers and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two (2) proposals
were received as shown on the attached bid re -cap sheet. The Beach
Queen model 200 proposed by the Milo Equipment Corp. was the lowest
bid and has a number of desirable features such as being, lighter
weight, low profile, and performs well in wet sand as well as dry.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award be made to Milo Equipment Corp.
in the total amount of $25,896.86,
and best bidder.

WATER EDGES. EQUIPMENT WILL PICK UP BOTH WET AND DRY SAND WHEREAS PRESENT EQUIPMENT PICKS UP ONLY DRY SAND.
IN ADDITION, REPLACEMENT PARTS FOP. EXISTING EQUIPMENT ARE DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN.
