SUBJECT: Recommendation to award bid for Motor Scooters, Three
Wheel Bid. No. 1542
Introduction
This report concerns procurement of five Motor Scooters. Funds
for this purchase have been budgeted in account number 01- 300 -301-
000 -950.
Background
In response to published Notice Inviting Bids to furnish and
deliver five (5) Motor Scooters, Three Wheel in accordance
with City specifications, no bids were received. Proposal forms
were mailed to six (6) prospective suppliers and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. No proposals were received.
Cushman Motor Scooters, Model No. 434 are the only known vehicle
currently manufactured to Police Department Specifications. Bid
requests were mailed to all Cushman distributors in this
geographical area.
It is felt that procurement of the needed equipment is feasable
by direct negotiations with distributors of Cushman vehicles

It is recommended that the attached resolution be executed and
that the City Manager be authorized to negotiate the purchase
of 5 motor sco

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SANTA MONICA WAIVING FURTHER FORMAL BID
PROCEDURE AND AUTHORIZING DIRECT NEGOTIATION
FOR PURCHASE OF MOTOR SCOOTERS
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Monica Police Department has a
requirement for Motor Scooters and
WHEREAS, to the best of Staff's knowledge only one company can
supply Motor Scooters and
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council finds that the requirement
exists to purchase the Motor Scooters.
SECTION 2. That further bid solicitation would cause unnecessary
expense and delay.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to excute
a purchase agreement for the equipment.
SECTION 4 The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be
in full force and effect.
